Youth Win Prizes and Participate in Scientific Symposium

Jun 05 2008 Latest News

The symposium, held at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm on May 30-31, included presentations on topics such as novel functional materials, therapeutic designer proteins and molecular collision dynamics by SAB members and invited speakers. The Youth Forum centered on questions posed by some 30 attending high-school students. Several of the questions engaged more than one expert and a few of them ignited open-ended discussions. In a closed session, the Scientific Advisory Board selected the winners of the first round of the Molecular Frontiers Inquiry Prize for asking the most imaginative and insightful questions about molecules. The winners, five boys and five girls, representing five countries and ranging from 11 to 17 in age, will each receive a diploma, a medal and an iPod Touch. In addition, they may receive invitations to participate in the 2009 Molecular Frontiers Symposium and Youth Forum.
