The Molecular Frontiers newsletter is issued up to four times per year to inform about current plans and recent activities.  Additional
information is available on the Web site, www.molecularfrontiers.org.

New Scientific Advisory Board members

Let us all welcome two new members to the Scientific Advisory Board.  Dr. Carlos Bustamante of the University of California, Berkeley and Dr. Roger Y. Tsien of the University of California, San Diego.  Dr. Bustamante has made outstanding contributions in the development and studies of single molecules, such as the unfolding of complexes between RNA and proteins.  He also runs a laboratory in his native country of Peru.  Dr. Tsien has developed proteins that are analogous to green fluorescent protein but shine with different colors and enable the study of events inside single cells.  He was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2008.

MoleClues Youth Web Site Developments

MoleClues, the Molecular Frontiers Web site for young people (www.MoleClues.org) is now available in German and Swedish in addition to English.  A version in Greek is in progress.  The next MoleClues version, with a new look and more features and content, is also in progress.

Volunteer translators who are willing to help us translate the Web site contents, games and films into more languages are most welcome to contact us at http://www.molecularfrontiers.org/pages/contact/getinvolved/signup.php.

MoleClues on YouTube

Molecular Frontiers has introduced a channel for young people on YouTube (www.youtube.com/molecluestv), where films and news clips, such as interviews with scientists are posted.

Upcoming Events

Molecular Frontiers will co-host a conference in Bangalore, India on February 2-3, 2009 with SAB member Prof. C.N.R. Rao as local host.  The focus of this meeting will be material science.  There will also be a youth forum, welcoming students from local high schools, at which Prof. Dorairajan Balasubramanian (from the Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation and president of the Indian Academy of Sciences) will be the keynote speaker.  For more information, please contact info@molecularfrontiers.org

The 2009 Molecular Frontiers Symposium and Youth Forum, entitled "Of Molecules and Minds – The Machinery of Our Senses and Emotions," will take place on June 4-5 at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
