Roald Hoffman, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1981, is the Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. His research group studies the electronic structure of molecules and how this determines molecular properties such as stability, reactivity and conductivity. The 2008 Molecular Frontiers symposium, "Energy and Nano: Emerging Molecular Science and Technology," featured not only first-rate lectures on this theme, but also a day dedicated to youth. Members of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) responded to questions from the young participants.
Molecular Frontiers again hosted an activity called "The Chemistry of Love" at the Science Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden. Some two hundred teenagers aged 13 to 15 visited the event.
